The Giving Game – Day 24

What if your patterns were more like an endless spiral staircase – the higher you go the more perspective you have, and the more easily you can recognize the pattern?

“When we discover a pattern, a repetitive cycle in our lives, our first impulse is to try and break it.  But our patterns are there for a reason.  They’re meant to teach us something important.  Eventually, what we really want is to get to a place of appreciating our patterns – because regardless of how we perceive it in the moment, everything that happens in our life is a catalyst for change and growth.

LISTEN TO THE AUDIO LESSON BELOW, THEN ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS FOLLOWED BY THE CLEARING MEDITATION.

1.  Look back at yourself when you were a child and then a teen.
2. What patterns do you see?  What patterns have changed.
3. Pretend you are higher up on the staircase, looking back at your current self.
4. What patterns do you see?
5. What are  you learning from your current patterns?
6. Are you ‘safe’ but not alive?  Is your need for security suffocating  you?
7. Are you standing at a ‘fork in the road’?
8. Is there a choice you’ve always made, a pattern you usually follow?
9. Do you want to keep that pattern, or are you ready to try something new – a road less traveled?

Just for Today:  Break one small habit.
Example: Try speaking to a stranger (you know that exercise!) or to a coworker – someone you might ordinarily ‘avoid.’ Have a spontaneous moment – if you eat lunch at your desk, try going outside and eating lunch with a friend.  Are you always on a mission to be healthy and perfect? Try going all Thelma and Louise – just jump off the edge and buy yourself that cupcake you’ve been wanting!  Sit and really enjoy eating it – even in a public place! (Breaking a small habit/pattern creates a little more spaciousness in your life.  Keep going and it builds into enough spaciousness to make some really significant changes!)

Take a few moments today and think about those people that have touched you with kindness and appreciation – feel their love. Wow! Record their names and thank whoever you thank – for the love in your life.

Today’s Meditation – You know what to do! Feels great doesn’t it?!

Giving to Others – Make a stranger smile.
