“Shine the light of awareness on addiction, and we see it for what it truly is: distraction. Anything that distracts us from what is happening right now is an addiction.  Addiction can also be seen as avoidance.” ~ Panache Desai

LISTEN TO THE LESSON BELOW THEN ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS.

1.  How do you distract yourself – what is your habit of choice?
2. What stops you from being fully present?
3. What causes the ache?  Loneliness, boredom, sadness, anger, fear, insecurity?
4. When you feel yourself wanting to avoid your feelings – whether it is cigarettes, food, alcohol, drugs – or more mundane habits like surfing the internet, gossip, self-help books, meditation, exercise etc.  ALLOW whatever  you do to be OK.
5.  Say to yourself:  This is the most loving thing I can do for my body (or) myself.
6. At bedtime, lie down, get comfortable – scan for areas of tension in your body.
7. Become aware of your feelings and BREATHE into the tension.

Your Gratitude Journal – Record seven people or things that you are grateful for and feel the gratitude.

Today’s Meditation – Enjoy your time of quiet today.
