The Giving Game – Day 6

Welcome to Day 6!

“One of the most loving things you can do for another person is let them make their own mistakes, learn their own lessons and endure in the contrast of a life they don’t really want. People only really change when they’ve hit rock bottom – sometimes the most loving thing you can do for a person is to let them. Permanent change comes from within, no one can give it to you.”  ~ Jackson Kiddard

1. Today, if you do something you consider to be a ‘mis-take’ or if you find yourself reacting negatively to a person or situation – write it in your journal and rate the problem on a scale of 1 to 10 (low to high) based on the following questions: a. How important is this to me? b. How important is this to other people? c. How important will this be in 5 years?

2. Write down any advice to yourself about what you learned from this incident (e.g., “in the future I will remember that….)

3. On a separate piece of paper, make a note of your ‘mis-take’. When finished, toss the piece of paper into the wastepaper basket as you say out loud, “I am perfectly human. I release my ‘mis-take’ with gratitude for the wisdom that it brought me.”

Remind Yourself: I accept each mis-take as a natural step in learning and gaining wisdom. I learn from my mistakes and move on.

Your Gratitude Journal:  I am so grateful for . . . How’s your list going? Are you feeling it? Do six more new ones today – (3 in the am and 3 in the pm) – be sure to feel it!

Appreciation is the highest form of prayer, for it acknowledges the presence of good wherever you shine the light of your thankful thoughts. ~ Alan Cohen
